About Us

KNEW GALLERY is a contemporary art gallery working with emerging, mid-career, and established artists.  We promote the ideas and ideals of recent and current generations of post-modern artists.

We recently took a hiatus from the gallery to redefine our purpose and to modify our approach to the art of the business of art.  It enabled us to travel, to be involved at an organizational level in the 2008 US Political election,  to organize the first year of an art fair in DC entitled  "International Art Affairs", and to plan photography exhibits for the fall of 2008.

The artists that KNEW GALLERY collaborates with make art in a variety of media.  They work with oils, pastels, acrylics, photography, new digital media, and materials for making sculpure like ceramic, foam, leather and ...

Our audience.

Over the years we have attracted a diverse audience. One unique aspect of our approach is the fact that young artists are shown in the gallery alongside more established artists.  For example we have juxtaposed John Fasano and Fernando Canovas.

We work on various transactional levels with our buying audience. The composition of our audience mirrors our approach and therefore we work with emerging collectors and with more established collectors.  During the last quarter of 2007 and the first quarter of 2008 we increased our level of activity with private sales and consulting.  An increasing amount of the recent activity has been on the sell-side of private transactions.

In changing our concept we studied the way in which the many art worlds outside of Washington conduct their daily activities.  Over time we expect our approach to result in an increased awareness of the DC art scene from observers around the world.  This activity has been accompanied by our increased level of activity with an international audience and by our existing private sales, consulting, and art show activity.

We are big believes in collaborative engagements and welcome proposals for staging art extravaganzas partnering with independents such as art consultants and outside art promoters and advisors to collections.  See www.internationalartaffairs.com for details of one such collaboration last May.   Washington, unlike New York, is endowed with many very interesting venues to feature this city's increasingly dynamic art culture.

Please continue to frequent the website for new information on featured artists, upcoming exhibits, schedules, news and press, highlights of past shows, events, and works of art offered for sale through KNEW GALLERY.

Thank you.
